چکیده
We present a design for an atom chip trap that uses the time-orbiting potential technique. The offers several advantages compared to other chip-trap methods. It simple crossed-wire pattern on chip, along with rotating bias field. is naturally close spherically symmetric, and it can be modified exactly symmetric in quadratic order of coordinates. Loading from magneto-optical facilitated because positioned arbitrary distance chip. fields provide gradient support against gravity, three-dimensional adiabatically transformed into two-dimensional guide.

Nonadiabatic effects in the dynamics of atoms confined in a cylindric time-orbiting-potential magnetic trap
In a time-orbiting-potential magnetic trap the neutral atoms are confined by means of an inhomogeneous magnetic field superimposed to an uniform rotating one. We perform an analytic study of the atomic motion by taking into account the nonadiabatic effects arising from the spin dynamics about the local magnetic field. Geometric-like magnetic-fields determined by the Berry’s phase appear within ...
متن کاملA single hollow-beam optical trap for cold atoms
We present an optical trap for atoms which we have developed for precision spectroscopy measurements. Cold atoms are captured in a dark region of space inside a blue-detuned hollow laser beam formed by an axicon. We analyse the light potential in a ray optics picture and experimentally demonstrate trapping of laser-cooled metastable xenon atoms.
متن کاملTheory of an optical dipole trap for cold atoms
The theory of an atom dipole trap composed of a focused, far red-detuned, trapping laser beam, and a pair of red-detuned, counterpropagating, cooling beams is developed for the simplest realistic multilevel dipole interaction scheme based on a model of a ~315!-level atom. The description of atomic motion in the trap is based on the quantum kinetic equations for the atomic density matrix and the...
متن کاملTwo Cold Atoms in a Harmonic Trap 1
Two ultracold atoms moving in a trap interact weakly at a very short distance. This interaction can be modeled by a properly regularized contact potential. We solve the corresponding time{independent Schrr odinger equation under the assumption of a parabolic, spherically symmetric trapping potential.
متن کاملDynamic Stability of The Time-averaged Orbiting Potential Trap: Exact Classical Analysis
We calculate exactly the modes of motion of the Time-averaged Orbiting Potential (TOP) trap with its four degrees of freedom, namely the three translations and the spin, taken into account. We find that, when gravity is neglected, there are two parameters in the problem namely, the angular velocity of the rotating field and its strength. We present the stability diagram in these parameters. We ...
